ABOUT

Royal Exchange Plc started operations in Nigeria, represented by Barclays Bank DCO, before becoming a full branch of its then parent company, Royal Exchange Assurance, London. Its establishment in Nigeria was a result of an overseas expansion drive in the early 20th century of the British company.

The company was reconstituted and incorporated as Royal Exchange Assurance (Nigeria) Limited in 1969 and became a publicly traded company in 1990. It was rebranded to Royal Exchange in 2008.

Royal Exchange Plc is one of Nigeria’s longest-standing financial services providers. The company offers a wide spectrum of services, including life and health insurance, credit financing, microfinance, asset management, and trusteeship solutions.

In 2017, the company paid out ₦3.4 billion in claims against a ₦12.8 billion gross written premium, demonstrating its reliability and trust.

In 2007, the company entered into a merger with African Prudential Insurance Company Limited and Phoenix of Nigeria Assurance Company Plc.
