ABOUT

International Breweries Limited was incorporated in December 1971 by the founder and pioneer Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Omole. Production began in 1978 with its flagship beer, Trophy Lager. The company commenced operation with an installed capacity of 200,000 hectoliters per annum, and it grew to 500,000 hectoliters 4 years later. The company currently has a variety of beers, stouts, and malt.

It became a public company by 1995. It has undergone various changes in ownership and structure over the years, with its current parent company being AB InBev Nigeria Holding BV, which controls a 68.31% stake as of December 2024.

In 2017, the company, through a scheme of merger sanctioned by the Federal High Court, merged with Intafact Beverages Limited and Pabod Breweries Limited for efficiencies while leveraging economies of scale.

In 2008, the majority shareholders at that time, the Warsteiner Group, sold its shareholding to the Castel Group, and by January 2012, the then SABMiller entered into a strategic alliance with the Castel Group. Significant investment was made in this period, transforming the organization and providing it with a solid foundation for more growth and profitability.

The company launched Global Smart Drinking Goals with the purpose of shifting social norms, consumer behaviours, and its business practices, in a bid to reduce the harmful use of alcohol globally.
