Deloitte & Touche Nigeria is the oldest indigenous professional services firm in Nigeria, which started as Akintola Williams & Co. in 1952 by Chief Akintola Williams, often referred to as the “doyen of accounting” in Nigeria.
The firm has since evolved through mergers and growth to become one of the largest multidisciplinary advisory, audit, and consulting firms in the country.
The service offerings of Deloitte Nigeria are broad and include assurance & audit, tax, consulting, risk advisory, financial advisory, and specialized areas such as forensic services.
Throughout its history, Deloitte & Touche Nigeria has achieved several notable milestones. The founding by Akintola Williams in 1952 was itself a milestone as it was one of the first indigenous accounting firms in Nigeria, establishing a path for local talent in professional services.
Through mergers (around 1999 to 2004) with other accounting firms, the firm expanded its capacity, staff-base, and scope of services, becoming what is now known as Deloitte in Nigeria. The firm adopted the business name Akintola Williams Deloitte on July 30, 2004.
Currently known as Deloitte & Touche Nigeria and operating as a member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited and also a part Deloitte Africa practice which has presence in 34 countries in Africa.
