NASCON Allied Industries Plc was established in 1973, with the Federal Government of Nigeria as the major shareholder, as the National Salt Company (NASCON), with the mandate of refining salt to serve Nigeria’s local needs.
The company has since broadened its business beyond salt, venturing into seasoning, tomato paste, and vegetable oil, with production facilities in Ogun State, River State, and two in Lagos State. Its spread of production facilities was designed to deal with the logistical challenges in Apapa.
The company became a private company in 1991 and became a publicly listed company in 1992. The company became a subsidiary of Dangote Group after the latter became a major shareholder in 1996, and in 2007, there was a reverse takeover of NASCON by Dangote Salt Limited. In 2015, the company changed to its current name 2015 to reflecting its expanded product lines.
